7175 T7452 Aluminum

7175-T7452 aluminum alloy is a special treatment condition of the 7175 series aluminum alloy, offering excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, making it particularly suitable for high-strength aerospace and other high-demand applications.

Material Condition T7452

  • Solution heat treatment and stress relief: The 7175 aluminum alloy is first subjected to solution heat treatment to form a solid solution with a high solubility. Afterward, the metal undergoes a "stress relief" process, typically involving slight compression deformation (1-5%) to eliminate internal stresses. This treatment helps improve the material's uniformity and stability, reducing the risk of deformation during subsequent use.
  • Artificial aging stability: The alloy undergoes over-aging to achieve the desired balance of hardness and strength. The over-aging process needs precise control to ensure a good balance between tensile strength, stress corrosion resistance, exfoliation corrosion resistance, and fracture toughness. Over-aging can reduce the material's ductility, so controlling the extent of over-aging is critical.

7175 T7452 Aluminum Characteristics

  • High tensile strength, corrosion resistance, exfoliation corrosion resistance, and fracture toughness.
  • Low ductility, not suitable for extensive deformation.
  • High precision machining requirements, suitable for high-strength, lightweight aerospace structures.

7175-T7452 aluminum alloy is a high-performance, high-strength alloy with a special treatment condition, suitable for high-end aerospace and other heavy-load applications that demand extreme strength and corrosion resistance but do not require high ductility.

7175 T7452 Aluminum Mechanical Properties

  • Tensile Strength: Due to its precise heat treatment and aging process, 7175-T7452 aluminum alloy has a very high tensile strength, allowing it to withstand significant mechanical loads. This makes it suitable for high-stress environments, such as critical structural components in aircraft.
  • Stress Corrosion Resistance: This alloy exhibits strong stress corrosion resistance in the T7452 condition, making it particularly suitable for use in high-stress corrosion environments, such as in aircraft.
  • Exfoliation Corrosion Resistance: Compared to other aluminum alloys, 7175-T7452 offers superior exfoliation corrosion resistance, which is especially important for structural components exposed to harsh environments, such as spacecraft and aircraft.
  • Fracture Toughness: Although its ductility is low, 7175-T7452 maintains good fracture toughness, making it less prone to brittle fracture under impact. This provides additional safety for aerospace products.

7175 T7452 Aluminum Ductility

Low Ductility: Compared to other conditions of 7175 aluminum alloy, T7452 has lower ductility. While its strength is high, it sacrifices some ductility, meaning it may crack or fracture when subjected to significant deformation. Therefore, 7175-T7452 aluminum alloy is generally not used in applications requiring large deformation or plastic flow.

7175 T7452 Aluminum Applications

  • Aerospace: Due to its high strength, good corrosion resistance, and strong fracture toughness, 7175-T7452 aluminum alloy is widely used in aerospace structural components such as wing spars, fuselage frames, landing gear parts, and other high-strength, high-performance aerospace parts.
  • Military and High-Performance Applications: In addition to aerospace, 7175-T7452 aluminum alloy is also used in the military field and some high-performance industrial equipment, particularly in areas where an excellent balance between light weight and strength is required.

7175 T7452 Aluminum Processing and Forming

Due to its high strength, 7175-T7452 aluminum alloy requires special attention during processing due to its processing difficulty. Although its machinability is generally good, some challenges may arise, especially during cold working. The processing process usually requires high precision to ensure that the final product meets the required mechanical properties and surface quality.
